St. Lawrence University in upstate New York will sell custom apparel such as jackets, hats, polo shirts and sweatshirts on a new website in order to raise the profile of its athletics program, the university announced Sunday on its website.
Each item will include logos from one of the university's 32 athletic teams, as well as additional customizable options. They will be sold through the SaintsAthletics.com website, and will complement items sold in the university's bookstore.
"This will give fans, alumni, parents and the campus community a chance to purchase items that represent their favorite teams, something we've heard many requests for," said St. Lawrence athletics director Margie Strait.
Each item will be available in a range of adult sizes, and some items will be available in youth or infant's sizes.
Custom apparel such as sweatshirts, t-shirts and hats are one of the most important ways colleges promote their athletic teams. The items allow fans to support their teams when worn on game day, and can help to strengthen attachments to schools and athletics teams.
