Personalized mugs sell big in Nebraska

Officials in one Nebraska county recently ordered personalized mugs and other promotional items to sell this holiday season, according to an article published Friday.

The York County, Nebraska visitors' bureau is selling Christmas ornaments and personalized mugs painted specially to portray a local water tower in order to raise funds and promote tourist visits throughout the winter, according to the York News-Times.

Representatives from the bureau told the newspaper that the promotional items are already selling well. People are using them to decorate their homes, or to give to friends and relatives as Christmas presents. Many orders are coming from outside the state. And one enthusiastic customer even ordered 20 of the custom ornaments to give to family members and friends.

Each year, many government agencies, nonprofit organizations and businesses order personalized mugs and other custom-made promotional items to sell during fundraisers, or simply to raise awareness. As this story in York County shows, the holiday season can be one of the best times of year to sell promotional items, because custom-made objects often work well as gifts for clients, employees and loved ones.
