Kentucky's Bowling Green Hot Rods baseball team will use custom bags and other promotional items throughout the 2010 season to help bring fans to the stadium, the team announced Wednesday.

The Hot Rods, a Class A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, will give away free skateboard decks on May 31, lunchboxes on July 25 and custom bags on August 1. Each giveaway will be limited to the first 1,000 fans under age 12 to enter the stadium that night.

The baseball stadium will also host a fireworks show after each Friday night game, and will bring back its "Thirsty Thursday" promotions featuring $2 draft beers. The team will also bring back its special "What Could've Been Night" theme night on August 28, named the top minor league baseball promotion last year by MiLB.com.

Baseball teams, as well as professional teams of all sorts often use promotional items such as custom bags and custom apparel to thank fans for their loyalty, and to help attract new fans to the stadium. These items often come emblazoned with names and logos from the hosting sports teams, as well as corporate sponsors.
